Chris Peters: Web Developer

If you can’t beat ‘em, join the Invisible Web

Filed under: Marketing & Strategy — Chris Peters, June 15, 2005

SEO Chat has an interesting article today about the Invisible Web: the untapped information resources on the Internet that aren’t currently indexed or referred to by the major search engines. This particularly interested me because my site (in its infancy) is currently considered unimportant by the major search engines. And I am looking for ways to get some sort of audience.

I also wonder how many of these directories are indexed by the major search engines. I believe I’ve read before that the well-known DMOZ Open Directory Project is indexed by the major search spiders. So getting the ball rolling in getting your site(s) into these directories could potentially be key in getting your Web site onto the Visible Web.
