Free cross-platform browser testing tool

Filed under: Design & CSS, Tools for the Job — Chris Peters, April 29, 2008

I stumbled upon a web-based browser testing application called Browsershots. Although you aren’t able to test things like JavaScript behavior, at least you can see what your web pages look like in different browsers.

Most notably, you can run tests on quite a few OS/browser combinations. You can also test with different parameters like Flash, JavaScript, Java, and screen resolution settings.

My site doesn’t look too bad in BonEcho 2.0 on Linux, eh?

Here is a brief list of some of the more popular browsers supported by Browsershots.

Linux

  • Firefox
  • Opera
  • Konqueror

Windows

  • Internet Explorer 4/5/5.5/6/7/8
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Opera

Mac OS

  • Safari
  • Firefox

BSD

  • Opera
  • SeaMonkey

…And more.

This is pretty similar to BrowserCam, which I pointed out a few years ago. Except free. Boo-ya.
